I knew Debbie from having kept my previous horse at Gainfield, but decided to give up riding when I had my son. Three years on, I decided that I wanted to get back into horses again and knew that Debbie at Gainfield would be the best place to start. I explained to her that I was looking for a sane and sensible horse that had the potential to do some dressage and as I was moving 300 miles away from Oxford I didn't want to buy something from a stranger. Debbie said she had the perfect horse for me so I went to see Sam that day. I was very nervous as I hadn't sat on a horse for two years, never mind done any schooling, however, Debbie was very patient with me and having the indoor school was a godsend as I could start again in safe surroundings. I had a few tries on Sam, in the field, indoor and outdoor schools to assure myself that I was happy on him. When I decided that I wanted to buy him, Debbie offered me an all-in price which included a few weeks of livery and training so that I was more confident on him before I took him away with me to our new home. This was definitely the right way to buy a horse as I had sufficient time to try Sam out in surroundings that I knew and felt confident in and I didn't feel pressured into making the wrong decision. I had the opportunity to ask Debbie many questions about Sam before I took him away so I knew all his likes and dislikes. I am now enjoying life with Sam, riding him nearly every day and have continued my training with a new trainer where I am in the northeast. When I start looking for a pony for my young son, I will know where to go!
