Keen and Local?
Of course working under more regular supervision would be preferable so if you are a Lucky Local living within driving distance of Witney you might like to join the Equestrian Pilates classes. These are held weekly – one session on a Monday afternoon and another on Tuesday evenings at 6pm.
If you are really keen The Riders Gym Kit will enable you to leap ahead by practising at home between classes.
When riding your horse, balance can be deceptive. It is not by chance that we train our horses using mirrors and regularly need our trainer's eyes on the ground.
Part of the new riding in balance principle has to involve your horse. An assessment of you and your horse together is essential on the outset. If you are unaware of your horse's crookedness and tendency to lean one way or another, benefits from your own training will be limited. You may well be balanced whilst off the horse, but once back in the saddle the old habits will still be there.
So your horse, through your new awareness must come on this journey too, so that you can develop more awareness, whatever you are doing, whether hacking, jumping, dressage or any other equestrian discipline.
Once you and your horse are capable of carrying yourselves in good balance your ability to be forward and straight into two reins will be a walk in the park!
If you'd like to talk to me about coming to Gainfield for a postural analysis session on your horse, or to ask questions about equipment or posture classes, do ring me. The first workshop will be held on Sunday 8 May 2011, go to www.gainfield.co.uk for more details, I recomend that you get your names down as soon as possible as places are limited.
Best Wishes
Debbie
